I want to tell my story.

I’m Sandy. I’m a survivor of many adventures and misadventures in my life of slightly over seven decades thus far. I especially want to tell you about my journey of parenting a special needs child, in the hopes that our story might help someone else. My daughter, now an adult, is settled in a foster care provider’s home, happily weathering this COVID -19 experience in good health and with her needs being provided for. I’ll be telling you about how I set up a safety net for her, trying to the best of my ability to insure that her needs will continue to be met for the rest of her life. I’ll also be telling you how I helped her, at age 12, cope with a series of deaths that happened in close proximity: her grandmother, her grandfather, and her beloved older brother. Helping an autistic, intellectually challenged, anxious child through the process of grieving is a unique journey. What I learned, I’ll share with you.
